The primary purpose of Zen-Noh-Ren is to make a major contribution to the sound development of the Japanese economy by encouraging the dissemination of concepts of efficiency and technologies, as well as a scientific approach to management, through cooperation with bodies that are engaged in the study, guidance and promotion of scientific management in Japan.
Zen-Noh-Ren was established in 1949, inheriting its mission from the former All-Japan Management. The inaugural meeting and the First All-Japan Management Annual Conference were held in Tokyo in November 1949. Historical sketches are show in the following table.
1923 | The Japan Management Research Association is established, the first organization to develop and disseminate the idea of efficiency in Japan. (Management research groups with the same purpose were subsequently organized in several cities in Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Aichi, and also in Manchuria.) |
1927 | Japan Noritsu Rengokai is created by consolidating management research groups in different locations. |
1931 | Japan Industrial Association is established by combining the Factory Association and the Factory Councils. |
1942 | Integrated Japan Noritsu Rengokai and Japan Industrial Association, and established Japan Management Association. |
1949 | Following the end of World War II, Zen-Noh-Ren (All Japan Federation of Management Organizations) was established on May 16, 1949 consolidating management organizations across the nation. |
1950 | The establishment of the All Japan Federation of Management Organizations (Zen-Noh-Ren, an abbreviation of the Japanese name) was officially approved by the minister of the former Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) effective April 3, 1950. |
1977 | Voluntary regulations on management-related qualifications and designations are prepared, and a registration service for qualifications and designations begins. |
1984 | The Federation sends the first Japanese delegation to the FEACO Conference. |
1986 | Voluntary registration system for management consultants is created and the first round of registrations are carried out. |
1987 | The First Management Consultant World Conference is held in Paris, jointly sponsored by FEACO, ACME and Zen-Noh-Ren. |
1990 | The Second Management Consultant World Conference is held in New York. |
1993 | The Third Management Consultant World Conference is held in Rome. |
1996 | The Fourth Management Consultant World Conference is held in Yokohama, Japan. |
1998 | Management Consultant Registration System is dissolved, and the Management Consultant Certification System is set up. |
1999 | Zen-Noh-Ren marks its 50th anniversary. The first round of certification under the Management Consultant Certification System is carried out. Zen-Noh-Ren revises the voluntary regulation of management-related qualifications and designations to give more authority to this regulation and to encourage its adoption. |
2000 | The mid-term project plan gets underway. A delegation is sent to the Sixth Management Consultant World Conference. Research Institute is founded and produces a research report for the first term. |
2001 | Zen-Noh-Ren joins the Annual ICMCI Conference held in Australia as a representative of Japan. Research Institute addresses its second-term research theme. |
2002 | A delegation is sent to the FEACO Conference held in Lisbon. Research Institute produces its second-term research report. |
2003 | A delegation is sent to the FEACO Conference held in Ljubljana. Research Institute conducts the Management Consulting Industry Survey. |
2004 | A delegation is sent to the FEACO Conference held in Athens. |
2006 | A delegation is sent to the FEACO Conference held in Budapest. |
2007 | A delegation is sent to the FEACO Conference held in Warsaw. |
2008 | The 60th anniversary of Zen-Noh-Ren establishment Conference is held. A delegation is sent to the FEACO Conference held in Dubrovnik. |
2009 | Zen-Noh-Ren joins the ICMCI Biennial Congress held in London as a representative of Japan. |
2010 | Reserch Institute conducts the Management Consulting Industry Survey. |
2011 | A delegation is sent to the FEACO Conference held in Helsinki. Zen-Noh-Ren joins the ICMCI Biennial Congres held in Taipei as a representative of Japan. |
2012 | The first round of certification under the Management Instructor Certification System is carried out. |
2013 | Zen-Noh-Ren was approved as a public interest incorporated association. |
2018 | New Logomark (AFMO) has been registered as a tardemark. |
2019 | AFMO marks its 70th anniversary. AFMO hosted ICMCI Asia Pacific hub meeting in Shinjuku, Tokyo. |
